as doree's mother i REFRAIN from commenting on every blog, but today i couldn't resist. the commodore was discarded by our wealthy next-door-neighbors, and doree was totally OBSESSED with below the root. we took the compupter to israel in '86-'87. she spent HOURS on this game trying to get the key as i recall. wow...hadn't thought about that obsession in many many moons.

as doree's brother (and dinner companion and sometime blog commenter), I should point out that I found out last night for the first time that the commodore was rescued out of the garbage.

and here I thought you really loved us..:-)

I read those books when I was nine or ten and was obsessed with them. If only I'd known there was a game!

Doree -- you want to know what geekdom is really about --

Their album was produced in my Alphabet City apartment. Their two greatest hits, as far I am concerned, are "Straight Outta CompUSA" and "Horton Hears a Ho (featuring Saqi4Neeq)." That's all.

Oh, and well played on the Gym Pets piece.

I totally played this game on the Apple ][e. It never occurred to me how hippie it was until this very moment. If I remember correctly, part of the game involved seeking out spirit animals, one of which was a bunny. And one of the key items you needed to find was a hemp rope. It was an incredibly serene game -- lots of gliding down from tree tops and such.

I used to have Colecovision and I loved it. Seriously, I ruled at Ladybug. But my Dad didn't get the concept that it was just a console for games that you need to buy in addition to it, and so every time I asked for a new cartridge he would say that I already had the whole thing.

I guess that's why I eventually turned to a life of petty crime and heroin addiction.
